What is a Numbers file?

In short

Numbers is Apple’s spreadsheet app. A .numbers file is a ZIP of Apple’s own binary parts with a preview picture inside.

The preview Numbers saves with the spreadsheet: a picture of the first sheet, or a PDF when the file has one. Apple’s own format isn’t read.

How to open a Numbers file

  1. Add your Numbers. Drop the file in the box, choose it or paste it.
  2. Look at it. The preview Numbers saves with the spreadsheet: a picture of the first sheet, or a PDF when the file has one. Apple’s own format isn’t read.
  3. Take it further. Open in hands it, in a new tab, to File converter or Batch.
