What is a GPX file?
GPX is the file GPS devices and apps save routes and recordings in: Garmin, Strava, Komoot, AllTrails and phone apps export it. It holds waypoints, routes and tracks of points with elevation and time.
A sketch of the tracks, routes and waypoints, the length, climb and descent, elapsed and moving time, and a table of each track and waypoint. Show map puts them on a map. Text shows the XML.

Questions
Drop it here. The sketch appears straight away; choose Map, then Show map, to see it over a street map.

No. The file is read and sketched on your device. Only Show map asks OpenFreeMap for the map tiles of the area you look at; the file itself is never sent.
No. The viewer runs in your browser and opens the file on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
